The internet plays an important and very central role in our daily life, almost everything is controlled and influenced by it. To make an example of this delusion and cult around this technology, I designed an interactive doll, inspired by the voodoo magic, to visualize and experience the Wifi signals of our environment in a bizzare and unusal way.

By use of a small Van De Graaf generator inside the doll, a voltage of arround 50.000 V is generated. This causes the doll‘s hair to rise or fall, depending on the WiFi signal strength. Through the contact on the front of the doll, it is possible to use the human body as a grounding and additionally create a haptic feedback.

The final components (frame, gears, rails, etc.) were accurately designed for this purpose and 3D printed. Through a fl xible ground, controlled by an Arduino, the level of voltage (as well the position of the hair) is infini ely variable.

The process of development was characterized by various visual and above all physical experiments. The handling of static charge, generated by a small band generator, called for a compact, technically clean and modular solution.
